This major field study bridges the gap between packaging certification and real-world industrial composting environments, ultimately proving that these materials can be successfully diverted from landfills. Over 23,000 units of certified compostable packaging were tested and the results demonstrated that compostable plastics broke down by 98%, and fiber products broke down by 83% surface area, successfully integrating into commercial composting methods.
